The responsibilities of the patient

As a patient you have the responsibility to seek out the appropriate doctor who can help you to recover your health. When you see the doctor ask him why you developed your particular problem, what factors have contributed to your problem and what measures can you take to recover from your illness. Ask about the type of treatment you are likely to receive, the potential side effects and the duration of the treatment. Ask how you can prevent this illness and other illnesses from affecting you in the future.

It is wise to choose a doctor who has the time to talk to you and answer your questions.  Co-operate with the doctor to explore and understand your problems.  This will be more expensive in the short term but much cheaper for you in the long run.

Understanding your body, the weak and strong areas of your body,  and the potential illnesses you may develop, can help you prevent or delay them  and stay well and healthy.

Quotes From Hippocrates:  the father of western medicine made 2500 years ago  are still as valid now as they were at that time.

"Many patients blame doctors for giving them the wrong treatment,

but many patients don't get well because they do not completely follow the instructions of the doctor!"

***

"Doctors undergo many years of rigorous training,

working long hours, to learn and understand the human body with all its problems.

The advice they give is given with good intent,

thought and a full assessment of the health of the patient,

yet laymen without any of the knowledge or training

dismiss their advice as rubbish

because it doesn't suit them to follow the instructions they have been given."

Your body and mind are your assets and your Responsibility.

Nurture and nourish your body and mind

and it will serve you well,

allowing you achieve your aims.

Abuse it and you must pay the price.
